NEW Masterplanning facilitate a workshop with key stakeholders to help reignite the regeneration of a priority site in Poole.

The former Power Station site at Hamworthy is an identified regeneration priority with an integral role in the delivery of the new bridge crossing and strategic connections between Hamworthy, Poole and the Port.

Regeneration delivery of this key site has stalled, and the most recent planning application for mixed use redevelopment was withdrawn in December 2009.

In seeking to reignite the process a consortium of Poole's preferred housing association partners (Spectrum Housing Group, Raglan Housing Association, Knightstone Housing Association, and Radian) have taken the initiative to bring together the interested parties to try and establish an agreed way forward and appointed NEW Masterplanning to assist with this.

A workshop event was held on Tuesday 20th April 2010 which was led and chaired by NEW Masterplanning and attended by stakeholder representatives with a critical delivery role, including Poole Borough Council officers, housing associations, Homes and Communities Agency.

The session reviewed key site constraints and characteristics and considered its potential to deliver a new urban waterfront and much needed new and affordable homes as part of a mixed use redevelopment.

Further discussions are continuing between the interested parties to address the key issues identified through the session and begin to unlock a potential first phase of development.
