The former Innovia factory is a brownfield site on the north eastern edge of Bridgwater. It is visible from the M5 but within walking distance of the town centre. Our masterplan promotes housing and employment as a major sustainable urban extension. The site is a mix of brownfield (including a former cellophane factory) and greenfield land, and the client team includes Innovia, as major landowners, and owners of adjacent land.
We were appointed to advise on strategic planning issues, promoting the site through the Local Development Framework and Urban Potential Study and on the appointment of a wider consultancy team to take forward a planning application.

The priorities for Bridgwater are to improve its perception as both a business and residential location, and to improve the quality of employment and housing in the town.
The masterplan for the 50ha site will create attractive new business opportunities, homes for families and apartments for younger people to create a vibrant and sustainable community.
A planning application for the wider North East Bridgwater Area was submitted at the end of 2008, and includes a mix of housing, new employment floorspace, primary school, local centre and community facilities. |
