The newly established Urban Regeneration Company required a visionary and deliverable strategy to guide its ten-year development programme for the city. The challenge was to bring new life and new investment whilst respecting the heritage and history of one of our most important city centres. We led a multi-disciplinary team which included transport, economic, market and cost consultancy as well as planning, urban design and landscape architecture. Significant liaison was required with English Heritage on issues such as the reuse of Blackfriars Priory, with the County Council on traffic management of the Ring Road, with the City and County Council on their long term property requirements as landowners and employers and with developers for new retail, office, leisure and residential schemes. |
The Framework identified potential for a major new retail and leisure development in Kings Square, a new office quarter fronting the river, a mixed-use 'creative quarter' at Blackfriars and residential opportunities across the city. |
