A new Era for Andover

A new Era for Andover

Following almost 4,000 survey responses, 600 visitors to a town centre ‘Pop-up’ Shop, consultation with over 100 local stakeholders including community groups, students and local businesses Cllr Phillip North from Test Valley Borough Council along with the team launched the Vision and masterplan outlining the future of Andover. The Vision launched in September 2020 received full Council support in the same month.

The ambitious proposals seek to redevelop the outdated Chantry Centre allowing for a new Lights Arts centre, and more flexible space for independent retailers, health, community and leisure uses with office and living at upper levels. A Well-being Quarter is proposed linking key green assets within the town and providing a focus for the College, the new leisure centre and office space for Simply Health. Proposals will also seek to reduce the scale of the ring road surrounding the town centre improving facilities for walking and cycling and allowing for additional open space to be provided alongside the River Anton.

Phil North, Leader of Test Valley Borough Council stated:

“This masterplan marks the beginning of what is set to

be one of the most exciting moments in Andover’s history”
