Boscombe Town Centre Masterplan receives funding

Boscombe Town Centre Masterplan receives funding

Central government recently announced that Boscombe had successfully secured over £20 million to help deliver major investment and regeneration for Boscombe. NEW masterplanning as part of the Towns Fund application worked with BCP Council and stakeholders to create a masterplan fit for the 21st century and a post-Covid environment.

The masterplan proposals look to redevelop the monolithic Sovereign Shopping Centre replacing it with a series of mixed-use streets capable of accommodating new retail, community and leisure uses at ground floor with residential homes at upper floors and in surrounding streets.  The proposals also deliver an events space at the heart of the town centre for pop up and look to improve walking and cycling from the surrounding area by breaking down the barrier of the surrounding highways and positioning bus stops in locations that are closer to the centre.

Cllr Philip Broadhead from BCP Council said: “We are delighted to secure this landmark deal” and ‘With a focus on Boscombe and the surrounding area this external funding will unlock a number of significant regeneration schemes.  From job creation, skills and training, to new homes, and world-leading digital connectivity, this is a significant moment for Bournemouth and the wider City Region."
